This thesis examines various areas of application of Power to X in private households. The focus is on the investigation of existing technologies and assessing whether they can be used in a technically mature system to generate a high degree of energy autarky. Electricity conversion and the associated production, storage and reconversion of hydrogen and its importance in the field of Power to X will be discussed. Furthermore, decentralized energy systems are presented, and potential technologies investigated. The thesis points out that a wide range of optimizations must be mastered for decentralized Power to X systems to be cost-effective. Accordingly, the efficiency must be increased, the costs further reduced, and knowledge disseminated in society.
