The topic to be discussed for this research project is “Optimisation of techniques employed in collection and analysis of DNA evidence”. It will aim to examine and research various methods of obtaining and collecting biological evidence. This evidence may be collected from a crime scene or living suspect. It will help gain knowledge of the most effective ways in which to obtain DNA evidence and how we are improving these techniques in the field of Forensics. It will examine how these methods have evolved and what new technology is now being used to gain accurate results in DNA collection. This research could be useful to other scientists who are researching the most effective methods of DNA collection, whether they are taking into consideration time saving, cost effectiveness, or access to equipment and technology. This project will carry out an extensive literature review to gain as much knowledge as possible from experts in the field of forensics on this topic.
