How is the rate of decomposition of Mus musculus assessed by total body score, affected when the cadavers are submerged in seawater compared with freshwater?

Sut mae cyfradd dadelfennu cyhyrau Mus yn cael ei hasesu gan gyfanswm sgôr y corff, sy’n cael ei heffeithio pan fydd cyrff marw wedi’u trochi mewn dŵr môr o'i gymharu â dŵr croyw?

This research study was formulated in order to understand the effects of salinity on decomposition compared to the effects of freshwater. A methodology was proposed and then carried out, using Mus musculus as human remain analogue in both artificial seawater and freshwater samples. Using a total body score system and other measurements both sets of Mus musculus were regularly monitored in order to take note of any decompositional changes over the research period.
Measurements and observations were noted and analysed; these results indicated that there was a greater rate of decomposition among the freshwater samples compared to the slower rate in the artificial seawater samples.
The results of this study produce the potential for further research, as not much is known about the rates of decomposition in different aquatic environments. With the hope of further study, a potential timescale could be created for how long each decompositional process takes in each aquatic environment. The formation of a timescale could potentially help investigators and forensic specialists to determine an accurate post-mortem interval.

Lluniwyd yr astudiaeth ymchwil hon er mwyn deall effeithiau halltedd ar ddadelfennu o'i gymharu ag effeithiau dŵr croyw. Cynigiwyd methodoleg ac yna fe'i cynhaliwyd, gan ddefnyddio cyhyrau Mus fel cyfatebiaeth gweddillion ddynol mewn dŵr môr artiffisial a samplau dŵr croyw. Gan ddefnyddio system sgôr corff cyfan a mesuriadau eraill, roedd y ddwy set o gyhyrau Mus yn cael eu monitro'n rheolaidd er mwyn nodi unrhyw newidiadau dadelfennu dros gyfnod yr ymchwil. Nodwyd a dadansoddwyd mesuriadau ac arsylwadau; roedd y canlyniadau hyn yn dangos bod cyfradd uwch o ddadelfennu ymhlith y samplau dŵr croyw o gymharu â'r gyfradd arafach yn y samplau dŵr môr artiffisial. Mae canlyniadau'r astudiaeth hon yn cynhyrchu'r potensial ar gyfer ymchwil bellach, gan nad oes llawer yn hysbys am y cyfraddau dadelfennu mewn amgylcheddau dyfrol gwahanol. Gyda'r gobaith o astudio ymhellach, gellid creu amserlen bosibl ar gyfer pa mor hir mae pob proses ddadelfennu yn ei gymryd ym mhob amgylchedd dyfrol. Gallai llunio amserlen helpu ymchwilwyr ac arbenigwyr fforensig i bennu cyfnod post-mortem cywir.
