Representation of place and the history it holds is essential to my working practice. Growing up near a quarry I have always been fascinated by the site itself. The harshness of the landscape and its industrial past and present continue to fuel my making. Creating this body of work has allowed me to develop a closer connection to the quarry.
As part of my research practice, I have developed an affinity for paper and its properties. I began experimenting with folding, ripping, bending, and tearing into the material then decided to introduce the same methods when working with clay. Navigating different materials and their intrinsic qualities have played a major role in the process of creating this body of work.
