Development of a Steer by Wire System with Force Feedback based on an Arduino.

This report is about the development of a force feedback steering wheel based on an Arduino. In this dissertation, research was carried out in the field of steering systems and Arduino microcontroller boards. The steering wheel was designed for use in sim racing. In order to find suitable parts for the system, microcontroller boards and sensors were compared. Arduino has prevailed against STM32 and a rotary encoder (incremental) against a potentiometer. The steering system consists of two mounting plates held in position as a frame with four threaded rods. In the centre, there is a steering column with two bearings. The rotary encoder is located at the end of the steering column. The motor moment of the force feedback motor is passed on to the steering column via a gear drive with a chain drive. Two pedals and a steering wheel complement the system. Peripheral devices such as pedals, encoders and dc motor are connected to the Arduino. This forwards the signals to the PC, where it can be used as an input device for all racing games via an application. This system is designed as a prototype, manufactured, improved and ultimately tested in the DIRT4 rally simulation.

Mae'r adroddiad hwn yn ymwneud â datblygu olwyn lywio adborth grym yn seiliedig ar Arduino. Yn y traethawd hir hwn, cynhaliwyd ymchwil ym maes systemau llywio a byrddau microreoli Arduino. Cynlluniwyd yr olwyn lywio i'w defnyddio mewn rasio sim. Er mwyn dod o hyd i rannau addas ar gyfer y system, cymharwyd byrddau microreoli a synwyryddion. Mae Arduino wedi goroesi yn erbyn STM32 ac amgodiwr rotari (cynyddrannol) yn erbyn potensiomedr. Mae'r system lywio'n cynnwys dau blât mowntio sy’n cael eu dal yn eu safle fel ffrâm gyda phedwar rhoden edau. Yn y canol, mae colofn lywio gyda dwy belen traul.
